Incline Dumbbell Press

Setup

  1. Set the bench to a low incline.
  2. Bring dumbbells to shoulder level with feet planted.

Execution

  1. Press slightly inward without clashing the weights.
  2. Lower until the elbows reach a comfortable depth.

Feel and control

  • Low incline
  • Forearms vertical
  • Shoulders anchored

Avoid

  • Bench set too steep
  • Flaring elbows hard
  • Bouncing from the bottom
BREATHING

Exhale on the press; inhale on the descent.

TEMPO

2 seconds press, 3 seconds lower

SAFETY

Use a spotter or choose a machine when handling the dumbbells feels uncertain.
